Euphorbia Blues by Jason Swain. It’s Monday, but the sun is shining and its a holiday here in the UK, so here’s some colour to celebrate!

My first time using the Macro lens (Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM) on the full frame Canon 6D camera body, and as i’m finding with all the lenses, they all love the 6D. Shot as wide open as i could go just to see what the results were like!

And now i’m home, i found a suitable poppy tribute in the archives. Many people have paid a terrible price for our freedoms, the very least we can all do is remember and appreciate that.

Shot with a macro lens, a tight crop to evoke a different mood.

Red Admiral Butterfly

Red Admiral Butterfly, Shot mid September, Totland Bay, Isle of Wight. By Jason Swain.

I’ve read that apparently the indifferent (crap) summer in the UK has hit the butterfly population really hard, with some of the species showing alarming rates of decline, the ‘Big Butterfly Count’ had ‘Red Admiral Butterfly’ numbers down by 72%.

I’m not sure what it’s called, but the tree that was in blossom outside my house was driving the butterflies crazy, and i saw dozens of these Red Amiral Butterflies a short period of time.

Take me to your leader

By Jason Swain. The title ‘Take me to your leader’ was really just the first thing that came into my head I thought it looked a little like an alien life form!

This macro photo, shot with the Canon 100mm f2.8 lens, is following on from the last floral post i made earlier this week ‘plant sexuality‘, this shot is of the same plant / flower but taken from a little further back.

Any help you can give in making a positive ID would be appreciated? It’s now grown into a tree with think green leaves, will show them in the next shot from the series.
